The thrilling 2015 Verizon IndyCar Series season, which culminated with Scott Dixon claiming his fourth championship in an exciting race at Sonoma Raceway, held numerous records and interesting factoids.

Juan Pablo Montoya continues to lead the Verizon IndyCar Series championship standings heading into the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio on Aug. 2. The top seven in the standings won't face elimination in the 90-lap race on the road course.

Also, in the manufacturer championship chase, Chevrolet leads Honda 1,279-1,011.

Listen to the teleconference: Sunoco Rookie of the Year candidate Sage Karam earned his first Verizon IndyCar Series podium finish in the Iowa Corn 300, but his drive in the late stages of the 300-lap race on the .894-mile oval to third place was not without critics.

The Iowa Corn 300 at Iowa Speedway in Newton delivered the largest NBCSN audience for a Verizon IndyCar Series race since Baltimore in 2011 and continued growth seen the previous two races.

Graham Rahal, driving the No. 15 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Honda, has finished first, third and fourth in the past three races on ovals to move to second in the Verizon IndyCar Series standings with three races remaining.

Sage Karam, driving the No. 8 Comfort Revolution/Big Machine Records Chevrolet for Chip Ganassi Racing, races CFH Racing co-owner/driver Ed Carpenter for position late in the Iowa Corn 300. Karam will be the guest on the INDYCAR teleconference July 22, with a report on indycar.com.

Sage Karam -- at 20 years, 4 months, 15 days -- earns his first Verizon IndyCar Series podium finish in the Iowa Corn 300 at Iowa Speedway. Check out other factoids from the exciting race.

Ryan Hunter-Reay takes the checkered flag at Iowa Speedway for the third time in the past four years (he was runner-up in 2013) in the Iowa Corn 300. It was his first victory of the season.

Justin Wilson is competing in the final five races of the Verizon IndyCar Series season in the No. 25 Honda for Andretti Autosport. He's hopeful of securing a full-season ride for the 2016 season.

Sebastien Bourdais started from the rear of the 24-car field and finished ninth in the Iowa Corn 300 at Iowa Speedway. Graham Rahal also was a big mover -- from 17th on the starting grid to fourth.
