FOX Covering All Angles of D.C. Race With Unique Production
1 HOUR AGO
FOX Sports is bringing a landmark production plan this weekend to the historic Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington, D.C., including a variety of novel camera positions and angles.
The Freedom 250 Grand Prix circuit runs past the U.S. Capitol, down Pennsylvania Avenue and along the National Mall, and FOX Sports has built the coverage to match it with 90 cameras across the street course and inside the race cars framed to deliver both the on-track action and the sense of place.
FOX’s production features a camera mounted on the top observation level of the Washington Monument, a first in the history of a sporting event, and multiple other stunning vantage points. FOX Sports has also placed a camera on a 70-foot crane, carrying overhead crowd views, as well as vantage points of the U.S. Capitol, the Washington Monument and other landmarks.

Coverage also originates from the air, framing the circuit against the Capitol, the National Mall and the monumental core -- views that sporting events in the nation’s capital almost never have the chance to deliver.
FOX INDYCAR also is introducing a custom, first-of-its-kind perspective, highlighting an overhead race view with the debut of Owl Cam (mounted to a 4D gimbal for four-axis stabilization) at this event. Mounted atop a constructed truss across Pennsylvania Avenue near 6th Street, Owl Cam affords fans a viewpoint down Pennsylvania Avenue with the U.S. Capitol as a backdrop as cars race past and under at their fastest speeds.
There also will be a special pre-race show starting at 11:30 a.m. ET Sunday on FOX and FOX One to set the scene for the first motor race ever on the streets of the nation’s capital.
Emmy Award-winning host Chris Myers hosts FOX prerace show against the backdrop of the U.S. Capitol alongside four-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves and former INDYCAR SERIES driver Danica Patrick. Acclaimed FOX Sports reporter and renowned storyteller Tom Rinaldi, winner of 17 national Sports Emmy Awards and seven national Edward R. Murrow Awards, will offer special features and interviews live from Washington.
During its special 90-minute prerace coverage, FOX Sports will capture a massive salute to the U.S. military, complete with an epic multi-branch flyover.
“ALL IN: INDYCAR,” FOX Sports and INDYCAR’s first-season, digital-exclusive series, in conjunction with critically acclaimed creative studio show Shadow Lion, will be on site at the Freedom 250 Grand Prix for a special edition capturing the historic weekend. “ALL IN: INDYCAR” crews embed with drivers and teams to document how some of the sport’s biggest stars navigate the pressures of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES high-speed competition. Episodes are available on the INDYCAR on FOX YouTube Channel and across INDYCAR and FOX Sports’ social media platforms, FOX One, FOXSports.com, the FOX Sports app and Tubi.
