The Hoosier-born Ed Carpenter is a staple of the INDYCAR paddock, racing for more than 23 years and currently the only owner/driver in the field. He competes exclusively in the Indianapolis 500, where he has claimed three poles in 2013, 2014 and 2018, driving the No. 33 Chevrolet.
In 2003, Carpenter won the first INDY NXT by Firestone race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. His INDYCAR SERIES career includes three wins, four poles and nine podiums, with his first NTT INDYCAR SERIES victory coming in 2011 at Kentucky.
A graduate of Butler University in Indianapolis, Carpenter is a fan of the Butler Bulldogs men’s basketball team, the Indiana Pacers and Indianapolis Colts. He earned his pilot license and often flies himself to races with Alexander Rossi. He and his wife, Heather, have three children.
