Pato O’Ward, fresh off his victory earlier this month at Barber Motorsports Park, led the afternoon practice for the GMR Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

O’Ward’s best lap was 1 minute, 9.7839 seconds in the No. 5 Arrow McLaren SP Chevrolet. NTT INDYCAR SERIES points leader Alex Palou followed up his session-leading lap of 1:10.4555 from this morning with a lap of 1:09.8137 in the No. 10 NTT DATA Chip Ganassi Racing Honda, good for second.

Colton Herta was third at 1:09.8423 in the No. 26 Gainbridge Honda, followed by 2021 GMR Grand Prix winner Rinus VeeKay at 1:09.9265 in the No. 21 Building Tomorrow Chevrolet.

Rookie Christian Lundgaard rounded out the top five at 1:10.0002 in the No. 30 Shield Cleansers Honda.

NTT P1 Award qualifying starts at 4 p.m. (ET), live on Peacock Premium. NBC will televise the GMR Grand Prix at 3 p.m. Saturday, with live coverage also on the INDYCAR Radio Network.
