JDL Racing, an open-wheel Texas-based development team, will make its debut on the May 10 – 11 Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires grid at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway with its driver Jacob Loomis.

“Although we are in our infancy, we are hoping to hit the ground running and be recognized as a competitive top-level open-wheel racing team on and off the track. We aim to build our Indy Pro 2000 team based upon our strong foundation,” stated JDL Racing team principal Jim Loomis. The team is very pleased to be reunited with Moses Smith.

19-year-old Jacob Loomis will begin a new chapter in his racing career behind the wheel of the #9 Optima Anesthesia-powered Indy Pro 2000 entry. Loomis is excited to compete at the Speedway this week.

“This represents a major step forward in my career and toward my dream of winning an Indy 500," said Loomis. "We are eager to put our small-town team’s effort to the test and are ready to show that a lofty budget and a lavish team aren’t always necessary to take that next step in climbing the Road to Indy ladder. I love racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, enjoying success at the F4 level, and am hopeful to continue the streak."

Loomis enters the newly-branded Indy Pro 2000 Championship as a two-year highly competitive driver in the FIA F4 US Championship series earning several podium finishes in addition to dominating 2016 in the SCCA’s Formula Mazda series with multiple poles, victories and track records. While chasing his dream on the second step of the Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires, an official development series of INDYCAR, Loomis juggles multiple demands as an aviator and a full-time college student studying Aviation Technology. Loomis, while not on the track or flying, dedicates a great deal of time working as a driver coach, performing data acquisition and mechanic duties for drivers/racers in a variety of cars as well as karts.
