Reece Gold

Reece Gold will join HMD Motorsports for the rest of the 2023 INDY NXT by Firestone season, moving to the team to drive the No. 10 Ticket Clinic car vacated by Rasmus Lindh.

Gold started this rookie INDY NXT season with Juncos Hollinger Racing and is 12th in the standings, with a best finish of eighth in the season opener at St. Petersburg. HMD Motorsports’ drivers have won both races this season and occupy the top three spots in the championship standings.

“I am excited to join a winning program,” Gold said. “HMD Motorsports has been one of the teams to beat the past two or three seasons, and I am happy to finally be racing with them, and not against them.”

Gold, 18, from Miami, won four races and scored seven overall podium finishes with Juncos Hollinger Racing in the USF Pro 2000 championship in 2022 en route to second in the standings.

“We spoke to Reece in June of 2022, but he chose to go a different direction,” HMD Motorsports General Manager Mike Maurini said. “Rather than get upset about his decision and burn a bridge, we kept the door open for the future, and we welcome him to the HMD Motorsports family.”

Gold will test with HMD on May 8 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and make his racing debut with the team in the INDY NXT by Firestone Grand Prix on Saturday, May 13 on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.
