Clean Harbors

As the NTT INDYCAR SERIES took the green flag on the 2020 season Saturday, June 6 with the Genesys 300, INDYCAR partnered with Clean Harbors to provide infectious disease prevention and decontamination needs to create a safe, healthy environment for INDYCAR employees, teams and drivers at Texas Motor Speedway following a delayed start to the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A Clean Harbors field services crew from Denton, Texas, was on site at TMS on Friday, June 5 and deep-cleaned each NTT INDYCAR SERIES transporter and various other inbound trailers and equipment as they arrived at the racetrack.

Additionally, Clean Harbors, which is North America’s leading provider of environmental and industrial services, played a pivotal role in cleaning the facility before personnel arrived and in keeping the facility sanitized during the day Saturday. The entire NTT INDYCAR SERIES event – practice, qualifying and the 300-mile race – took place in one day, culminated by Scott Dixon’s victory.

“We are proud to strengthen our partnership with INDYCAR and support the successful launch of their 2020 racing season,” said Chuck Geer, Clean Harbors Senior Vice President of Field Services. “As the top decontamination provider in the United States, we understand the importance of getting sports in this country back on track. Our highly trained decontamination experts made sure all locations at the track were safe for race teams and INDYCAR personnel.”

Clean Harbors, which routinely performs hazardous waste management, emergency spill response, decontamination work and much more in a variety of industries and settings, has been working on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic from the beginning to ensure every workplace and public environment is free from the dangers of coronavirus. Clean Harbors is the largest emergency response provider in the United States, Canada and beyond, offering comprehensive management of medical waste generated during the treatment of COVID-19 patients.

Clean Harbors, which is the parent company of Safety-Kleen, also has deep-cleaned NASCAR corporate offices, racetracks and team facilities, as well as NHRA tracks, sports arenas, schools, government buildings and much more since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Safety-Kleen, the official environmental service partner of INDYCAR and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, is the leading provider of environmental services with reliable, sustainable environmental services. Since 2008, IMS and the NTT INDYCAR SERIES have safely disposed of automotive liquid through a successful partnership with Safety-Kleen. Safety-Kleen disposes of more than 200 million gallons of used oil annually at racetracks and at race shops across the country. At IMS alone, Safety-Kleen recycles 220 gallons of fluid each quarter.

Clean Harbors will continue to work with INDYCAR in the months ahead to provide safe environments through infectious disease prevention and decontamination needs at NTT INDYCAR SERIES races. The organization also will continue to make public safety a priority through various coronavirus-related services, including a 24-hour coronavirus hotline.
