Sato on tour: four cities in four days
If you think Takuma Sato got a breather after winning the 101st Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil, think again. Instead, the Andretti Autosport driver jetted off to New York City for a media tour, capped by a party and champagne toast in his honor. This year, the Verizon IndyCar Series held “A Toast on Top,” its now-annual Manhattan rooftop soiree for the Indianapolis 500 winner, at the Press Lounge in New York City.
Following the two-hour celebration, Sato and the INDYCAR team were winging off again. They flew to Texas for more media interviews about this weekend’s Rainguard Water Sealers 600 and. After a night’s sleep, they flew straight to the Motor City for the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear, where Sato won the pole for Race 2 with a track-record lap.

When he returned to Indianapolis, Sato apparently decided to go out for a relaxing dinner at Ocean Prime and the staff there got in on the celebration.
Carb Day, Detroit style
Following his double win in Detroit, Graham Rahal was hungry for more. On Monday morning, he brunched with journalists at the Hudson Café.
Daily dose of cute
Scott Dixon’s scary crash at the Indianapolis 500 is still on the mind of one young fan and she wanted us to know it. Good news for Lucy and the rest of us is that the four-time series champion and 2008 Indy 500 winner is back in his car and on the mend.
Luck of the butterfly
When a butterfly landed on his car in Detroit on Sunday, Ed Jones was hoping for luck from the lovely creature. His day didn’t end as he wanted, so we figure the good fortune might be stored for INDYCAR’s trip to Texas Motor Speedway this weekend.
Back home again in Miami
After his Indianapolis 500 run with Team Penske, Juan Montoya returned home to Miami, hanging out with his family and karting with his son, Sebastian. He’s all smiles about it, too.
Ride swap
There’s a cool video out there of James Hinchcliffe’s ride swap with fellow Canadian racer Robert Wickens. If Hinch looks like Wickens’ twin in the video, it’s because his luggage was lost on a whirlwind trip to Italy and “the Mayor” had to borrow a firesuit before he could pilot Wickens’ DTM touring car.
