ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Jake Eidson and his Pabst Racing team swept the Cooper Tires Grand Prix of St. Petersburg doubleheader to open the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda season.

Eidson, 19, from Littleton, Colo., started from the pole in both races. He led throughout the 20-lap second race, with Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing’s Aaron Telitz placing second and Nico Jamin finishing third. Eidson and Telitz are former Team USA Scholarship winners.

Keyvan Andres Soori of ArmsUp Motorsports, the youngest driver in the field at age 15, took seventh place.

In the first race, Eidson led throughout the 18-lap race. Telitz finished second and Jamin was third.

"You talk about having weekends like this, but to actually have one is definitely easier said than done,” said Eidson, who finished third in the USF2000 standings in 2014. “Everyone at Pabst Racing has worked so hard, especially since Winterfest. We weren't sure what kind of results we were going to have. Obviously, we were aiming for the win but to actually execute it is a relief.”

The Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda returns to action April 10-12 at NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale, La.
