A little bit country
We didn’t know Josef Newgarden had pipes, but from the looks of his Twitter feed, he does. Team Penske’s newest addition was apparently visiting his Tennessee hometown last weekend and dropped by Nashville mainstay Twelfth and Porter for some country music, as you do in Music City. His singer-songwriter pal, Clayton Anderson, was on stage and fun-loving Newgarden took a turn in the spotlight.
50: It’s the new 40
Beloved former Indy car driver Alex Zanardi turned 50 last weekend and got some social media shout-outs from a few big names in the paddock, including his former team owner, Chip Ganassi.
Mutual admiration society
When Alexander Rossi tweeted his admiration for James Hinchcliffe’s performance on “Dancing with the Stars” this week, Hinch shot back his own compliment, leaving us feeling good and dreaming of May.
Tony Kanaan as Ironman
All the talk of heroes makes us think of Tony Kanaan, who completed his latest Ironman last weekend in Miami and let us know via Instagram.
Gold Coast racing gone wild
Indianapolis 500 driver Matt Brabham finished third in the Stadium Super Trucks series last weekend in his homeland of Australia at the popular Gold Coast street circuit. He also gave himself and a camera operator more than they bargained for when he didn’t exactly stick the landing on one jump.
21: It’s the new 15
Anyone who has seen 21-year-old Indy Lights driver Zach Veach knows he doesn’t look his age, which can occasionally cause problems. Consider this week, when he was minding his own business in the exit row on a flight:
Don’t worry, Zach. This, too, shall pass and when it does, you’ll miss it.
